Rob Lowe sat down with Oprah recently, and for some reason the topic of Justin Bieber came up. Rob remarked that even Justin’s fans don’t “give a sh!t about his music,” which may sound like an awesome instance of Bieber-bashing, but it turns out Lowe was actually defending the bratty pop star.

“I have tremendous empathy,” said the actor and former teen idol when asked about Justin. “He makes really good music, but he knows the dark secret is 80% of his audience doesn’t give a sh!t about his music. And he knows it. It bums him out.”

He makes really good music?! Clearly, the real story here is that after 24 years of sobriety, Rob Lowe has fallen off the wagon hard.

I kid, but in all seriousness, Rob’s comments reflect a disturbing new trend in discussions about Justin: some celebs are actually sympathizing with the spoiled twerp.

Rob, no one cares about the music because Justin doesn’t even care about the music. The only time the “pop star” makes headlines is when he gets a new tattoo or engages in some other form of BS wannabe thug behavior.

Justin has gained a reputation as “the Joffrey Baratheon of our time” because he wants to be thought of as a dangerous criminal. Of course all his legal troubles and general brattiness have just caused the world to see him as an immature punk, but you can’t blame us for forgetting the guy makes music when his name makes the police blotter more than his songs make the radio.

Rob seems like a nice guy, but the idea that celebrities can relate to Justin’s plight in a way that us peasants will never understand just makes no sense. Fame doesn’t justify douchiness. If anything, Justin should be obsessively prudent about his behavior as he has far more to lose than the average 20-year-old.
