Liz Cheney is not what one would call a Wyoming girl. One might argue that she is no where even close. However, that is not stopping her from running for the U.S. Senate seat in Wyoming

Her father was at one time a Wyoming golden boy, went to the University of Wyoming, and was eventually elected to the U.S. House of Representatives to represent the state. Liz Cheney herself? Well she’s been living in the DC area for many years now.

Even though the Cheney name is well known in the Wyoming political scene, Ms. Cheney herself might not receive the warm welcome that she is perhaps expecting.

The man currently occupying the seat she is after, Mike Enzi, certainly can’t be overly thrilled to see Cheney’s recent move to Jackson Hole. He recently announced his intention to seek re-election for a fourth term much earlier than he has in the past.

“Anybody can get in the race that wants to get in the race. There’s at least one person that’s trying to get me to retire.”

Will Wyoming voters support Cheney’s bid? Well that remains to be seen but one group that isn’t is the National Republican Senatorial Committee. They have made their support of incumbent Enzi known which might signal a rocky road ahead for Liz Cheney.

Looks like things will be worth watching in the Cowboy State as election season heats up!
