Neil Patrick Harris kicked off his hosting duties for the 2013 Tony Awards Sunday night with an elaborate opening number that featured Mike Tyson. Seriously.
The eight-minute-long act featured musical recaps of nominees such as Kinky Boots, Motown: The Musical, Pippin, Bring It On and Matilda the Musical.
The highlight wasn’t the acclaimed plays, or even NPH however. It was boxer-turned-pop-culture-punchline Tyson, who made a cameo at the 3:15 mark:

He didn’t do much, but he didn’t have to. Tyson’s mere presence on stage at the 2013 Tony Awards was enough to get people talking, as it clearly has.
The former world heavyweight champion recently embarked on a touring one-man show that also hit Broadway (seriously), so it did sort of make sense?
As for Harris, he also closed the show by rapping! Check out his take on "Empire State of Mind" featuring Audra McDonald after the jump …
