This just in: The American Idol Season 12 judging team didn’t work out so well.
In an interview with Haute Living, producer Nigel Lythgoe owned up to this not-so-astonishing fact, blaming a lack of overall chemistry for the ratings disaster instead of singling out any individual panelist.
“Chemistry is something that everyone has to contribute to,” Lythgoe said. “Each one of them is terrific on their own – they all bring something to the table – but they just don’t gel as a whole.”
Lythgoe praised Mariah Carey’s “wealth of knowledge” and said Nicki Minaj was “very focused” throughout the season.
He also referred to Keith Urban was a “wonderful guy” and said “America loves” departing judge Randy Jackson.
Still, even if Fox is yet to make it official, changes are clearly on the way. Jackson is already out. Everyone else is expected to soon join him.
Will Idol be able to lure a huge name such as Justin Bieber as a judge? Who do YOU think should judge American Idol Season 13?
