David Archuleta broke down in tears last night following a major announcement: he’s leaving the music scene for a couple years to pursue a higher calling.
The former American Idol runner-up told a crowd in his home state of Utah that he’s taking an extended professional break in order to fulfill his two-year obligation to the Mormon church, saying:
“It’s not because somebody told me that I was supposed to do it, not because that I no longer want to do music anymore, but it’s because it’s the feeling that I felt that I need to do next in my life.”
