Likely prompted by his ex-wife comparing him to a rapist, Steve Harvey will no longer let Mary Harvey’s accusations go unchallenged.
The comedian’s former partner has been ranting on YouTube and on talk shows about how Steve cheated on her with current wife Marjorie (pictured); left her broke; and denied her access to the couple’s son, Wynton.
Stating a need to “report the truth,” Steve has been granted the removal of a gag order on his and Mary’s 2005 divorce proceedings. The documents reveal the following, as a court has ordered Mary to shut her mouth about her ex:
- Steve paid Mary Harvey $40,000 per month until March 2009.
- He then paid her lump sum of $1.5 million.
- He transferred three houses over to Mary as part of the settlement.
- Regarding Wynton, the system has given Steve “primary custody” of the child, “whom Mary Harvey willingly put on an airplane to his father,” according to the statement.
Marjorie Harvey, meanwhile, plans to sue Mary Harvey for defamation of character.
On his radio show yesterday, Steve expressed disappointment in how Mary has handled this situation:
“The part that’s hurtful in this is my wife and children had to be [dragged] into this. If you’re going to be vindictive go ahead and aim it at me, but my son is coming in the room crying and that’s also her son, so why would you do this?”
