Appearing on the Today Show in her first TV interview since announcing her separation from Jon in June, Kate Gosselin says she … is hurt by her ex.
Shocking revelation right there.
Asked about Jon’s girlfriend Hailey Glassman, the daughter of Kate’s plastic surgeon, the mulleted mother of eight said, “I was shocked, but those things… to be very honest, that’s his life and they don’t affect me directly at this point.”
“It is hurtful. Very hurtful. To be very honest, the most hurtful part is when his decisions directly affect our children. That’s the hardest part for me.”
Asked if they ever would have split if it were up to her, Kate said “Gosh, who can go back and change? Ideally, parents stay married.” Really? Thanks.
“I go back very often to our vow renewal in Hawaii. In that moment, I meant those vows. And there was no option for us other than to be together.”
Okay then. The world’s most grating human being was equally distant when asked what role she may have played in the disintegration of her marriage.
“Nobody’s perfect. I was not perfect,” Kate Gosselin said. “Obviously, it takes two. I don’t know. What would I go back and change? It’s hard to say.”
These days, Kate Gosselin is doing “as well as can be expected.”
“I am determined to hang in there. What life hands me, I am going to do and deal with. My focus still, as I’ve always said, is the health and well being of my children, as well as myself.” Still, she said she wakes up and feels “a lot of failure.”
Her eyes teared up when asked why she still wears her wedding ring.
“For them,” she said. “I don’t want to upset them. While I’ve been very real and as honest as I need to be, I don’t want to shock them. I’ve walked slowly through this with them. As they’ve asked questions, I’ve answered them.”
Kate said she didn’t “remember” when Jon moved out, but that the split had been gradual, adding that their “hopes and dreams had become different.”
In other words, he hoped and dreamed that one day, he would be freed from her evil clutches and able to go to town on anything else with a pulse. We’re just glad Kate wasn’t directly asked about last week’s Stephanie Santoro rumors.
