Aerosmith Announces Summer Tour, New Album
Steven Tyler stole the spotlight for a few moments on American Idol last night, announcing that he and Aerosmith will be hitting the tour this summer for the band's first tour since 2009.
"We're calling the tour the Global Warming Tour," Tyler said like only he can. "Because of the fire. Yo tengo el fuego."
Earlier in the day, Tyler gathered at the Grove in Los Angeles - along with bandmate Joe Perry - and also revealed that the legendary group will release a new album - its first in eight years - some time later this year.
"We've been underground for four months, doing what we do best," said Tyler, adding that they're two songs away from completion on the CD.
But back to the tour: it will kick off on June 16 in Minneapolis, Cheap Trick will open and tickets go on sale tomorrow. Sounds like Amazing news to us! We aren't Cryin upon hearing it! And we Don't Wanna Miss a Thing when it comes to Aerosmith!
(Sorry.)
Jennifer Diley Calls BS on Steven Tyler, American Idol
Jennifer Diley auditioned for American Idol in San Diego Sunday - on an episode that will be replayed at 8 p.m. tonight on Fox - and did not make the Hollywood cut. Case closed, right?
Not so much.
The aspiring singer, who donned a tube top and very short shorts, has gone public with complaints over producers forcing her to choose from a list of "flirty" songs. (She ended up covering "With You" by Jessica Simpson and "Hero" by Mariah Carey, neither of which she had rehearsed.).
Diley is also apparently mad at Steven Tyler because he supposedly told her off-air that he loved her outfit... and then remained silent while she was mocked for it during the audition. The nerve!
Informed off this random complaint, Tyler's manager told TMZ: "You are telling me some provocatively dressed woman is claiming Steven Tyler flirted with her? I am shocked."
As for auditions of people who can actually sing, we recommend fans keep an eye on Ashley Robles. She has serious potential.
Steven Tyler National Anthem Rendition: An Epic Fail?
Steven Tyler spends the bulk of his time these days critiquing aspiring artists.
But the Aerosmith frontman/American Idol panelist is the one facing harsh judgment today, as is performance of the national anthem prior to the 2012 AFC Championship game is being met with severe rebuke.
"Steven Tyler far more obscene than Janet Jackson's t*tty," Fox Sports columnist Jason Whitlock Tweeted of the rendition, comparing it to another famous, scandalous moment in NFL playoff lore.
Was the song really that abysmal? Decide for yourself:
Shannon Magrane Wows American Idol Judges, Earns Creepy Steven Tyler Praise
Shannon Magrane made quite the impression on American Idol judges during last night's season 11 premiere.
Awkwardly for the 15-year old's father, though, it wasn't simply due to her singing.
In a clearly contrived set-up, Randy asked Shannon after her athletic interests... which led to a mention that her dad, Joe, pitched in the 1987 World Series... which led to Joe and other family members entering the room... which led to Joe asking Steven Tyler about Boston and the Aerosmith frontman responding:
"Great, beautiful. Hot, humid and happening... just like your daughter!"
But let's not let that quip detract from Magrane's performance, as she earned a ticket to Hollywood due to a cover of "Something's Got a Hold on Me." We'll be keeping an eye on Shannon, just not in the way Tyler implied above.
Remaining our overall favorite from Savannah, though? Phillip Phillips, by a long shot.
American Idol Judges Diss The Voice, Weigh in on Male Champions
Oh, it is on between American Idol and The Voice.
During their panel discussion at yesterday's Television Critics Association winter press tour session, judges Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler left little doubt that they don't care much for NBC's singing competition, which gets underway on February 5.
Among the disses lobbed at The Voice by this trio and/or Fox executives:
“It’s a compliment to Idol. We’re not hiring a lot of people from The Voice to be on our show.” - Fox reality president Mike Darnell on Kelly Clarkson joining The Voice as a mentor
"It was almost like second chance people; it wasn’t some new artist.” - Randy Jackson on The Voice champion Javier Colon having had a contract with Capitol Records
“This is the show that produces the stars.” - Producer Ken Warwick
“We will never, ever rip of Star Trek like The Voice did with the chairs.” - Jackson
Finally, Randy responded to a question about why four consecutive Idol champions have had a penis, saying: “May the best talent win. If it’s another boy this year that’s the most talented person, that’s who should win... Look at the success of Justin Bieber; there are a lot of girls who vote for boys, that’s just what happens.”

Steven Tyler: Engaged to Erin Brady (Confirmed)!
Steven Tyler is, in fact, engaged to Erin Brady.
The American Idol judge proposed with a ring made by jewelry designer Loree Rodkin, according to new reports, confirming rumors from earlier in the week.
"Having made Steven's jewelry for so many of the past years it was an honor to be part of his future... with all my love to Steven and Erin," Rodkin told Us.
Tyler has been a fan of Rodkin's work for many years.
Steven Tyler and Erin Brady have been together five years.
Rumors of the engagement started circulating when the American Idol judge and his 38-year-old girlfriend were snapped in Hawaii with Brady flashing the rock.
On Wednesday Tyler's rep had "no comment" when asked whether the 63-year-old was tying the knot for the third time. But it's 99.9% confirmed at this stage.
Tyler was married to clothing designer Teresa Barrick from 1998 to 2006, and to Cyrinda Foxe from 1978 to 1987. Congratulations to the happy couple!

Steven Tyler and Erin Brady: Engaged!?
Steven Tyler is engaged to Erin Brady, according to reports.
TMZ spotted a rock on her finger this weekend and cites sources claiming it is in fact an engagement ring. It is a rather large diamond, for sure.
Tyler, 63, and Brady, 38, were in Maui on Christmas day along with her massive ring. It's unclear if Tyler proposed before or during the vacation.

The two have been dating since 2006. The American Idol judge and Aerosmith rock legend has been married twice before. Liv Tyler is his daughter.

Steven Tyler Defends Shower Mishap, Pledges Sobriety
Steven Tyler passed out and crashed face first in the shower this week, an accident that resulted in a stitch-laden gash over his eye, two dental implants... and chatter that the singer was back on drugs or alcohol.
But this isn't the case, Tyler insists. He called in to The Today Show this morning and spoke to Matt Lauer about the incident.
"It still bothers me a little," Tyler said of speculation that he's back on the sauce. "But it's something that I have to deal with for the rest of my life."
Ouch! Steven Tyler Loses Teeth in Shower Fall
The first official trailer for season 11 of American Idol is a bit painful. Talk about cheesy!
But it's nothing compared to the pain endured by judge Steven Tyler yesterday, as Reuters reports the Aerosmith singer fell in the shower and lost two front teeth. He also suffered a few gashes to his face.
The accident took place in Paraguay, as Tyler was rushed to the hospital for emergency dental work and underwent a four-hour stay at La Costa medical center. Aerosmith was understandably forced to cancel its performance as a result.
What caused the fall? Food poisoning," says Eric Sherman. He tells People: "He was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released."
