Sarah Palin is the Governor of Alaska, and was the 2008 Republican candidate for Vice President of the United States, running on the ticket led by Arizona Senator John McCain. They had a good run at the thing but ultimately got beat pretty bad.
Still, she made history as just the second female Vice Presidential nominee representing one of the two major political parties (the first for the GOP), and is already being talked about as a White House aspirant come 2012. Hold your collective breath.
Prior to becoming a national political figure and celebrity gossip mainstay, Sarah Palin was mayor of Wasilla, Alaska.
She was a solid basketball player and journalism major in college, and was also a beauty queen in her youth, finishing second in the Miss Alaska pageant in 1984. Hot stuff!
Palin also refers to herself as an average "hockey mom" and/or the "Joe Six Pack" candidate. Whatever that means. She became the youngest governor of Alaska in 2006.
Sarah is married to Todd Palin, and is rumored to have had an affair with Brad Hanson way back in 1996. It is not known if that even happened, but like everything else involving her, it made for quality celeb gossip for like a week at least.
Sarah has five kids: Track Palin (yes, his name is Track), Bristol Palin (who's preggers with her boyfriend Levi Johnston!), Willow Palin, Piper Palin and Trig Palin, who was born just this year. He was rumored to be the son of Bristol at one point, but it's totally Sarah Palin's kid. Cute one, too!
