The famously private Carrie Underwood opens up about her marriage to NHL player Mike Fisher in the new issue of Us. Not sure how they got her to agree to that.

Perhaps to clear the air about their marriage being on the rocks? It's been reported several times, and while she says it's not true, maybe the rumor got to her.

The American Idol winner does admit that it's been a challenge ...

After nine months as long-distance newlyweds, Fisher was traded from Ottawa to Nashville in February. Carrie Underwood has been giddy ever since.

"It was like, he's coming to live with me! I can go to work, he can go to work, and we can both come home, and we'll be together," she gushed to Us.

But rooming together in her gated Brentwood, Tennessee, development, though joyous, has led to some growing pains and difficulties as well.

"To be honest, on our days off, we just hang out. Just learning how to live together has been fun and frustrating and everything in between."

They watch TV and read the Bible, says a source, who adds, "They're not into partying." As for kids, she's in no hurry: "We have plenty of time!"

Carrie Underwood hearts being married to Mike Fisher, but keeps her personal life so private there are hardly any pictures of them together in public. Respect.

Opening up about her marriage in a rare interview, she tells People that given their careers, they haven't been together too much since their summer wedding.

But, the country singer adds, marriage is a perfect fit for her.

"Mike is the missing piece to my puzzle – he's a few pieces," the American Idol champion says of her NHL star husband. "He makes me a better person."

While the winters in his native Canada can be rough ("I can't do cute heels in the winter!"), they're content to shuttle between Nashville and Ottawa homes.

"It's not like we have office jobs where one of you can transfer!" Underwood says, then states the obvious by noting that "It's not a conventional marriage."

Still, Carrie says marriage is something for which she gives thanks, along with other blessings, like her dog Ace and her family. All together now: Awww!

Looks like July 10 was quite the day for celebrity weddings.

Carrie got engaged to Mike Fisher in December. While they've done all they can to keep the details private, they are clearly smitten with each other.

"Everybody would always ask me questions like, 'What have you always dreamt of? This is your day,'" says the 27-year-old American Idol winner.

"But truthfully I never even thought about it until I was engaged. I wasn't one of those little girls. So I have no idea what I'm doing, basically!"

Asked about the engagement again last night, Fisher wouldn't give away any details, saying only that it's true, and that "we're both excited and very happy."

The Sens lost 2-0 last night, but somehow, we can't imagine Mike cares. In fact, he'd probably take this cutie over the Stanley Cup any day ...

The Ottawa Senators hockey player and the country singer are engaged to be married, according to Mike himself, who confirmed it to the Ottawa Sun yesterday.

Asked about it just moments before his team's game against the Boston Bruins at Scoriabank Place, he said he popped the question to Underwood on Sunday.

"It's true," said Fisher. "We're both obviously excited and very happy."

Sens' teammate Chris Neil said Mike Fisher called him with the news.

"I think it's great news. It's a long time coming. There's going to be a lot of broken hearts in Ottawa with all those girls who are in love with Mikey," said Neil.

Not to mention THG staffers who are in love with Carrie.

The blogosphere had been buzzing after an Underwood family friend congratulated the former American Idol winner on the big news on Mike's Twitter page.

Underwood, who makes her home in Nashville, was in Ottawa through the weekend and was on hand for the Senators' 4-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild.

The couple has been dating for about a year, and have (impressively) kept their relationship largely out of the media. Time to get started on that big family!

Congratulations, Carrie and Mike! Sad as we are that she's off the market, we have to say, we approve of Mike and the way he goes about his business.

As one of the few celebrities who likes to keep her personal life guarded, Carrie Underwood rarely gives us insight into her relationship with NHL star Mike Fisher.

Much as we'd like to know more, we can appreciate this.

The country star made a rare public declaration of love for Fisher this week, though, giving the hockey player a shout-out on the liner notes of her new CD, Play On.

Carrie, who is hosting a two-hour variety show on Fox December 7, has not gone totally out of her way to dodge questions (and cameras) as she once did.

Last month Fisher talked to The Sens Show, an online news program for his team, saying the busy twosome work hard to spend their free time together.

"Obviously it's tough with our schedules to see each other," he said at the time of his American Idol-winning love. "But we find a way to make it work."

Travis Stork who? According to Just Jared, Carrie Underwood reportedly has her eyes set on a hot new man - Canadian NHL player Mike Fisher.

The 25-year-old American Idol winner was spotted with her hair tied back at the Ottawa Senators-Toronto Maple Leafs game at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Saturday. Mike Fisher plays for Ottawa, which was defeated 3-1.

Carrie watched the game from the VIP box with Fisher’s family, including his younger brother Bud Fisher, who plays goalie in college for Quinnipiac.

Carrie Underwood was shown on the Jumbotron screen’s “Hug Cam” throughout the scintillating game as she hugged the two people sitting next to her.

“She looked like she was having a great time,” a source said. “They have been talking for a while, but when the romance with Dr. Travis Stork didn’t go anywhere, she decided to take some time for some hot hockey player action.”

While that may be the least believable quote in celebrity gossip history, we hope there's some truth to these rumors, because Mike's a good looking fella!
