We all know Kristy Lee Cook can't sing too well... but we just learned she's singing the praises of Andrew Dobner.

Indeed, the recently eliminated American Idol contestant is engaged to Dobner, who proposed on March 17. The couple had kept the news "on the down-low" because "I just wanted to be focused on Idol," Cook said.

Kristy Lee Cook is engaged to Andrew Dobner.

Cook said they're planning to tie the knot "next June sometime" and we couldn't be happier for Kristy Lee. Lord knows she needs love in her life after the beating she's received at the hands of Simon Cowell over the last few weeks.

A series of mediocre performances finally caught up to Kristy Lee Cook last night, as the pretty American Idol contestant with a disdain for Simon Cowell was voted off the show.

Cowell was a constant thorn in Cook's side, telling her on Tuesday night "you didn't give me chills," but "you managed with what you could."

Viewers agreed with the judge, as they included Kristy Lee in the bottom three last night, along with Syesha Mercado and Brooke White. When she heard the news, Cook cried bit, only for the equine enthusiast to buck up, thank America for voting and ask:"Can I go ride my horse now?"

Yes, Kristy Lee. Go ride away the pain.

Who's on easy street and who's on the chopping block tonight? After last night's American Idol performances, we've done our best to answer that.

Believe it or not, a Kristy Lee Cook elimination actually looks unlikely tonight, as her rendition of "God Bless the USA" was well received. She was also right in between favorites David Archuleta and David Cook, which should help.

Our picks for the bottom three have to be Ramiele Malubay, Syesha Mercado and Chikezie. Syesha Mercado did alright last night, all things considered, so of those three, we'd imagine Ramiele and Chikezie to be the lowest vote-getters.

When in doubt (and Sanjaya Malakar is not involved), we go with Simon Cowell. His feedback on Ramiele was fair last night and Chikezie has been running out of steam for awhile now. Thus, Chikezie is our prediction to go home tonight.

The Hollywood Gossip's American Idol predictions, by tier ...

Bottom Three: Ramiele Malubay, Syesha Mercado and Chikezie.

Still Vulnerable: Kristy Lee Cook, Brooke White and Jason Castro.

Secure in Final 9: Carly Smithson and Michael Johns.

The Favorites: David Archuleta and David Cook.

Tuesday's American Idol featured the top 10 contestants performing songs from the year they were born. You'll be happy to know that not a single contestant â€" they are all far too young â€" sang anything by the Beatles, for a change!

It was a night of strong performances, but one stole the show.

Born in 1982, David Cook finished out the night with a stunning, brave performance of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean." Cook slowed the dance track down, rocked it out and created an entirely new vibe for a very familiar song.

Randy Jackson described it as "original," "bold" and "molten hot." Paula Abdul was "blown away" while Simon Cowell, acknowledging the risk of changing the song so much, remarked on the singer's bravery and called David Cook "amazing."

David Cook might be the new frontrunner on American Idol after this.

Earlier, defying expectations, Kristy Lee Cook finally had a good night!

The cutie chose to perform "God Bless the U.S.A.," by Lee Greenwood from 1984, adding her familiar country twang. The judges liked it and praised Kristy Lee Cook for picking a both a "poignant" and "respectful" song.

Simon Cowell called it the "most clever" song choice he'd heard in years. We are pretty sure he was actually serious, as well.

The judges also seemed to like David Archuleta but only Cowell seemed to recognize his song (He sang "You're the Voice" by John Farnham).

They weren't quite feeling Carly Smithson, although she mastered "Total Eclipse of the Heart," but they loved Michael Johns, who combined two Queen songs, opening with "We Will Rock You" and finishing with "We Are the Champions."

But David Cook definitely owned the night.

Randy called him "the most original, the most bold contestant we've ever had" and suggested he "might be the one to win the whole lot."

Could Jackson be right? You tell us. Who do you think had the best - and the worst - performances from Tuesday's American Idol?

Now that American Idol has whittled down its contestants to the final 24, our Power Poll gets serious.

Only talented competitors remain in what many followers consider to be the show's most impressive season to date. But who is leading the pack heading into tomorrow night's performance of the top 12 males. Let's find out...

Spanish Sensation

1. Michael Johns (last week: #2): He has the looks, experience, singing talent... and the best accent in American Idol history. The Aussie's professional background may turn off some viewers, however.

2. Asia'h Epperson (last week: #8): Young and enthusiastic, reminds us of Melinda Doolittle with her innocence and charm. Possesses more personality than this finalist from last season.

3. David Archuleta (last week: #4): Arguably the favorite for many, but we've got a Simon-like question about this talent: does he really have music superstar written on him?

4. Carly Smithson (last week: #7): Similar to Johns. Great look, sound, experience and accent. But will voters not wanna reward someone who has already put out a label-sponsored album?

5. Kristy Lee Cook (pictured, last week: #1): Also signed with a record label in 2001, but that's almost part for this year's American Idol course. Has been a contender since the first night of auditions.

We're off to Hollywood!

As American Idol enters its fifth week of auditions, the show truly begins: contestants are judged in Hollywood and only the best of the best move one. Before they do, however, let's rank the top hopefuls so far in our third Power Poll of the season...

1. Kristy Lee Cook (last week: #1, pictured): Beautiful Oregonian's "Amazing Grace" was highlight of the initial American Idol audition shows - but will fans revolt against her one-time record deal with Arista Nashville? Then again, she certainly isn't alone in having a professional background.

2. Michael Johns (last week: #2): Also referred to as "Michael Lee Johns," the former band member once had a deal with Madonna's music label. The Aussie made a strong impression with a tight T-shirt, toned biceps, and a solid Otis Redding cover.

3. David Cook (last week: #6): Rocker with his sights set on the moniker of "this year's Chris Daughtry," Cook impressed viewers with his vocal range on Bon Jovi's "Livin on a Prayer."

4. David Archuleta (last week: #3): Former Star Search winner has the sympathy vote locked up: he struggled with a paralyzed vocal chord as a child. Might he be this year's Sanjaya Malakar… with talent?

5. Amanda Overmyer (new this week): She's a nurse! She's a gothic rocker! She's a talented singer with a unique look, sound and personality.

6. Chikezie Eze (new this week, pictured): Tried out for the show last year. Approved for Hollywood this time around with a rendition of "All the Woman I Need." Handsome, talented.

As we prepare for the fourth week of American Idol auditions, it seems like a good time to break out our second Power Poll of the season.

With six solid episodes under our belt, here's how The Hollywood Gossip staff ranks this year's early contenders:

1) Kristy Lee Cook: Gorgeous Oregonian's "Amazing Grace" was highlight of the opening three weeks - but will fans revolt against her one-time record deal with Arista Nashville?

2) Michael Johns: Also referred to as "Michael Lee Johns," the former band member once had a deal with Madonna's music label, but a professional background is par for this year's American Idol course. The Aussie made a strong impression with a tight T-shirt, toned biceps, and a solid Otis Redding cover.

3) David Archuleta: Former Star Search winner has the sympathy vote locked up: he struggled with a paralyzed vocal chord as a child. This year's Sanjaya Malakar… with talent?

4) Samantha Sidley (pictured, new this week): Young beauty played along when Ryan Seacrest and Paula Abdul swapped duties during her audition. She proceeded to deliver a restrained, lovely version of ''Don't Know Why.''

5) Carly Smithson: Another American Idol hopeful with prior experience â€" she crashed and burned in her major-label debut as Carly Hennessy a few years back â€" this tattooed Irishwoman displayed great range on "I'm Every Woman."

6) David Cook (new this week): If you cover Bon Jovi during an audition like Cook did, we'll give you props. This is another Chris Daughtry-type, who hopes to become the first rocker to win American Idol.

7) Colton Swon: We liked his impressive take on Little Big Town's "Boondocks" and are excited about the rumor that he plays the guitar during the Hollywood round.

6) Kady Malloy: Simon Cowell dubbed her the best audition he'd seen during the opening week after she belted out ''Unchained Melody." We loved her impression of Britney Spears. Singing, that is. Not being insane.

7) Alaina Whitaker: Confident (said Carrie Underwood looks like her!) and with a powerful voice for a 16-year old.

Kristy Lee Cook is the (very, very, very) early favorite on season seven of American Idol.

While some critics have voiced their concern over her professional background, the following story makes it evident that Cook is far from an established, pampered star:

Season 10 Final 4

According to The Seattlest website, Kristy failed her first Idol audition in July in San Diego. From there, she wanted to give it another shot... but couldn't afford a ticket to Philadelphia.

Therefore, Cook reportedly sold her horse for $3,000. We can't say for sure if this story is true, but we can prove that Kristy Lee once owned a horse, or was at least pictured on top of one:

Kristy Lee Cook is seen here atop a horse. Did she really sell it in order to audition for American Idol?

As one of the very early favorites in the seventh season of American Idol, Kristy Lee Cook is not exactly an undiscovered talent.

The young country crooner was signed to a record deal in 2001 and released an album called "Devoted." Here's the title track's video from that CD:
