Jake Pavelka was a contestant on The Bachelorette's fifth season, pining for the love of Jillian Harris. He is also known as Jake...

It's shocking but it's true:

Going on a reality TV show in order to discuss your relationship problems rarely ever actually solves those relationship problems.

Just ask Kate Gosselin. Or Kris Jenner. Or Jake Pavelka. (Remember him? We're very sorry if you do.)

You could also ask Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott, who awkwardly played out the consequences of the latter cheating on his wife via episode of True Tori... and who are now set to star on ANOTHER reality show together.

We're not sure if their marriage is real, if the infidelity was simply conjured up for the cameras or if two people can sink much lower than this pair.

But we do know Tori and Dean weren't the first couple to crumble in front of our television-viewing eyes. Nor will they be the last.

Some celebrity couples are made in heaven, making their fans believe in romance, passion and everlasting love even at the highest levels of fame and fortune.

Just not these ones. Like at all.

In celebration of Valentine's Day, many romantic duos will celebrate with flowers, gifts, meals, dates and public displays of affection. Nauseating, but cute.

These couples, on the other hand, are best known for fighting - in the media, in person and/or on TV - and breaking up a lot. Sometimes with police involved.

Hey, when you're a celebrity gossip site, you can't function without the dysfunctional, so at least they bring the entertainment value and then some, right?

Here are 14 truly toxic twosomes that never should've been a thing:

Rihanna and Chris Brown
Rihanna and Chris Brown dated for two decent chunks of time, the first of which ending after he beat her senseless. Never a good sign. Nor was taking him back after that, but she's moved on with Drake ... thank goodness. Good luck, Karrueche!

Dreams do come true. At least 10-20 percent of the time.

Fans know that a final rose does not guarantee a lifetime of happiness, but The Bachelor has produced some couples that have stood the test of time. At least lately.

And with Juan Pablo Galavis' season in full swing, ABC caught us up on some of its recent success stories as part of its "Juan-uary" series of Sunday specials.

Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici are set to tie the knot next weekend. They were one of the duos featured on The Bachelor: Bachelor Love Stories last night.

The others:

Ashley Hebert and JP Rosenbaum
Ashley Hebert and JP Rosenbaum are married. He won her heart on The Bachelorette.

  • Trista Rehn married fireman Ryan Sutter in a ceremony that was televised in 2003. Still the gold standard for the show, over a decade later.
  • Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried. The most recent Bachelorette picked Chris at the end of Season 9 last year. They're still engaged.
  • Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum. After she chose J.P. on The Bachelorette Season 7 finale, Ashley married J.P. in December 2012.
  • Molly and Jason Mesnick. Jason was engaged to Melissa Rycroft, but dumped her for runner-up (and now-wife) Molly on the After the Final Rose special. Close enough.

Will Juan Pablo end up in the success or failure column? The Bachelor spoilers shed some light on that if you're interested ... but the odds are not good.

That's like five success stories in like 27 seasons. Just saying.

Jake Pavelka, who once wooed Gia Allemand on The Bachelor, had to pull his car over to the side of the road when he learned his former fling had died.

He said he could not stop crying when he heard the shocking news.

Allemand, who was taken off life support Wednesday after an apparent suicide attempt, was "an angel," he says, adding, "I am in complete shock."

Jake Pavelka is "devastated" at the loss of "one of the sweetest people I have ever known and a very dear friend. My heart goes out to her family."

"We have lost an angel today."

Kristin Chenoweth is apparently dating Jake Pavelka of The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, Bachelor Pad and Dancing With the Stars fame for whatever reason.

Seriously, there's a photo of them on a date near his home in Texas.

The "couple" were seen getting cozy at a diner in West Hollywood earlier this fall. That was one thing. Lunch at a cafe in Highland Village, Texas? Another.

Jake Pavelka has scored a gig with Chippendales in Las Vegas.

Somehow we're not altogether surprised.

The reality-TV staple signed on as a celebrity guest host to help Chippendales celebrate its 10-year anniversary in Las Vegas' Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino.

Shirtless Jake Pavelka

The gig will last from Feb. 23 to March 18 and give Jake Pavelka, according to a press release, a chance to "use his charm, sex appeal and hosting skills to keep the women entertained while leaving the dancing to the men of Chippendales."

Mmm hmm.

Jake, for those unaware, was a contestant on The Bachelorette, then the star of The Bachelor, then appeared in DWTS, Bachelor Pad and Vienna Girardi.

Former Bachelorette, Bachelor and Bachelor Pad star Jake Pavelka has a new girlfriend, an aspiring model and contestant on CMT's Sweet Home Alabama.

Doesn't sound at all like the kind of person who would date an attention-starved douchebag reality star, does it? No, definitely not.

Dapper Jake Pavelka

Sources tell Us Weekly that Pavelka - the former Bachelor champion who famously fought with temporary fiancee Vienna Girardi, seriously you must watch this clip - is now dating Ashley Ann Vickers, who he met while filming the CW series H8R.

Of course he did.

"It's pretty new," the insider says, though serious enough that the pair spent this weekend in Hawaii.

Vickers hails from the south and is a former Miss USA pageant contestants. She has also modeled for Maxim and is a graduate of the University of Central Florida.

On the season finale of Bachelor Pad, old wounds were reopened, a romantic bombshell was dropped, and a STAGGERING prize of $250,000 was awarded.

There were tears shed. There were some extremely awkward moments.

By the end, two couples from The Bachelor and Bachelorette were left standing. Read about it all below in THG's official +/- Bachelor Pad finale recap:

Jake, Vienna and Kasey

"I'm trying to act strong, 'cause I don't want Michelle to worry, but I am literally pissing down my leg." - Graham on the set of Cirque du Soleil. Literally. Plus 5.

Kasey and Vienna, of course, guaranteed they'd win this task and earn a spot in the finals. And, of course, they failed to do so. And, of course, she wept. Minus 6.

Mike and Holly took home the #1 spot thanks in no small part to his performing arts / dance background, but hey, guy needed a bone thrown his way, so Plus 8.

The judges - Jason Mesnick, Ali Fedotowsky and Trista Sutter - eliminated Ella and Kirk. Boo, but seeing those three was kind of fun, so that's kind of a Wash.

What the heck happened at the end of this week's Bachelor Pad episode?

The last rose came down to Jake Pavelka - who ominously vowed that if he was going home, he was going to take as many people as he could out with him - and Kasey Kahl.

The music built to a crescendo and then ... the credits rolled.

Chris Harrison said "Kasey," but that was it. Presumably he's getting a rose? It's all unclear. The host-pimp says next week, "it will all make sense." Either way, it was odd:

Is there a chance Jake Pavelka actually sticks around? Or did the show decide to edit it this way simply to spread Jake's epic meltdown upon being voted off?

We'll find out next Monday night, obviously. But until then ...

Whose side are you on in this Bachelor Pad battle?

Last night on Bachelor Pad, Melissa went insane, Jake's feud with Kasey escalated, Bret Michaels showed up, and there was synchronized swimming involved.

Just another eventful night on ABC's guilty pleasure spinoff hit.

By the end, it was Jake Pavelka and Kasey Kahl on the block again, with a weird ending that would have people talking if the format actually mattered.

Read about it below in THG's official +/- Bachelor Pad recap:

Not In Sync

Blake, on Melissa: "She's like a live wire that's flailing around on the ground ready to zap somebody, and I'm covered in water." Plus 4 for that metaphor.

Speaking of water, the challenge is synchronized swimming! If you thought the girls would have a big edge here, boy did you think wrong. Minus 5.

Obligatory Minus 2 for Erica's attempt at "swimming."

Despite not playing to his self-proclaimed strengths - mental durability, physical strength and problem solving - Jake is the star ballerina! Plus 9.

Michael wins the rose, however, resulting in another boring, sappy date with Holly. Minus only 1, though, because at least this wasn't scripted.
