Fifty Shades of Grey

Based on a couple of recent comments he made, Arrow star Stephen Amell is reportedly out of the running for the lead role in Fifty Shades of Grey.

Earlier this spring, the Canadian heart throb had more than a few hearts aflutter when he confirmed he “had a meeting” about starring in the film.

He's singing a different tune now, however.

“Was on a flight back to LA with no movie, so I grabbed Fifty Shades of Grey and burned through it,” the actor, 32, wrote on Facebook last week.

Apparently he was not impressed.

It's a heated debate that has raged ever since the film adaptation of the best-selling erotic trilogy was announced, and waiting to find out is like Red Room torture.

Minus the pleasure, of course. Though there is some fun in speculating on which actor should portray Christian, as well as who should play Ana Steele.

With the decision coming soon - it has to be if they're ever going to actually make the movie - we want to know who you would most drool over in the role:

British director Joe Wright has emerged as a favorite to direct the wildly anticipated movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, reports indicate.

Gus Van Sant has reportedly been angling for the job, as well, so who knows, but Wright, 40, has ties with both Universal and Focus Features.

The director has helmed Anna Karenina, Hanna, Pride and Atonement, which features some major heat. The man can film a sex scene, people!

As for who he'd be filming, should he in fact land this major directorial role? That remains to be seen, but the speculation is off the charts as always.

Is Minka Kelly the perfect choice for the role of Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey? She's the latest sexy actress to be rumored for the coveted part.

The former Friday Night Lights star has supposedly caught the casting director's eye, which is not a shock given her gorgeous eyes, lips, and body.

Can she act well enough to command that kind of part, though?

Her FNL role gives her plenty of cred, as it was one of the best shows ever. But she also hasn't done all that much since, beyond date Derek Jeter and be hot.

There are also a ton of other names under consideration for Ana Steele, some of whom bring more star power than Minka, and others who bring less.

Minka may be the kind of girl every guy wants, and every girl wants to be, but is that enough when it comes to a movie part of this magnitude?

Gus Van Sant is gunning to take a seat in the director's chair on the Fifty Shades of Grey movie.

He's so eager to win the job, in fact, that he shot a test scene without even being asked to.

So who was his Christian Grey in the steamy sex scene? Alex Pettyfer.

Pettyfer was thrust onto the scene with last year's Magic Mike, and it appears as though the 23-year-old has already typecast himself as a hunk (poor him?).

Jonah Hill and Emma Watson are set to star in the upcoming screen adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, he revealed last night at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards.

Sadly (or gratefully), he was not serious. We hope.

Before the actress, who turns 23 today, was presented with the Trailblazer award for her career thus far, she was the subject of a video montage in her honor.

That's when Hill came on the screen and made light of the rumors tying Watson to the role of Ana Steele by announcing that HE will play Christian Grey.

His safe word? It's tangerine. Just FYI.

Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen have dominated the Scary Movie 5 trailer and teases so far, but Mike Tyson's cameo is creating some decent buzz too.

That's because he spoofs 50 Shades of Grey in it.

The former boxing champ and caricature of his former self mocks the popular erotic novel, which is set to be turned into a movie franchise in the coming years.

There are many strong candidates for the role of Christian Grey in the upcoming film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, but two have really piqued our interest.

Arrow star Stephen Amell confirms he "had a meeting" with producers about it, while Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder has openly coveted the part.

So, with no offense to Matt Bomer, if we're forced to pick between these two CW stars, who would you want to see as Christian grey in 50 Shades?

Few have given us as much info to go on as these two. Stephen Amell revealing that he's even had meetings about the role tells you he's interested.

Ian, meanwhile, has been enthusiastic when asked about his potential participation. Both guys clearly look the part, but only you can (fantasy) cast Mr. Grey.

It's far from a done deal, and the production of the film adaptation of the best-selling novel is a ways away, but for what it's worth, he was in a meeting about it!

Amell, who stars on the CW's Arrow, recently told fans in a video post, "I get questions about Christian Grey all the time. That project is a long way off."

"I know this because I had a meeting about it. Long way off. I mean not that long, but not close. I wouldn't call it long, but I wouldn't call it close."
