When the video for Nicki Minaj’s "Anaconda" first hit the web last month, it ushered in a new era of butts.

Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea dropped "Booty" just a couple weeks later, but the bar had already been set so high by Nicki’s badonkadonk-fest that there was no way that they could hope to compete.

But with success comes scrutiny and now, more than ever, the world is wondering what’s really going on with Nicki’s gigantass.

Fortunately, the folks at Radar Online took it upon themselves to consult with a plastic surgeon so that we can finally get to the bottom of Nicki’s bottom:

“It does appear that she’s had some sort of augmentation in the gluteal area,” says Dr. David Feldmar, who – it should be noted – has never personally worked on Ms. Minaj.

"It looks like she had gluteal implants placed, or at least got fat injections."

It’s not exactly solid evidence, but Dr. Feldmar specializes in gluteal implants, and he says there are some serious drawbacks to fake butts in Nicki’s profession:

"For people who move or dance around a lot, you feel the implants," says the doc. "And after ten years, they begin stretching the skin and sagging."

Of course, who would bother getting butt implants if they didn’t dance around a lot?

So what does this all mean? Well, for one thing, we could be facing a future in which aging pop stars will only allow themselves to be photographed from the front.

In addition to Nicki, Iggy Azalea has been accused of "fake booty" shenanigans, so in ten years the women who became famous in part from their backsides could end up trying to bring Hammer pants back into style.
