Miley Cyrus Responds to Sinead O'Connor, Calls Out Singer's Unstable Past

by at .  Updated at . Comments

Ding! Ding! It is very much on between Miley Cyrus and Sinead O'Connor, who called out the Twerking pop star earlier today. Now Miles is responding in kind.

And then some. Hours after the Irish singer advised Miley to keep her clothes on and not let the music industry treat her as a prostitute, the 20-year old artist has fired back.

With Tweets invoking O'Connor's unstable history.

Prefacing her Re-Tweeting rampage, Miley wrote "Before Amanda Bynes… There was…" and then posted a screen shot of messages from O'Connor's very own account.

They included Tweets of Sinead asking for professional help (“does any1 know a psychiatrist in Dublin or wicklow who could urgently see my today please?”) and saying she "desperately need to get back on meds today."

The messages are from January 2012 during a time when O'Connor made it clear she was going through some pretty major psychological problems.

Many may question whether Cyrus is crossing a line here by mocking anyone's mental illness, especially considering the content of Sinead's message.

O'Connor's open letter to Miley Cyrus actually praised the young singer's talent and came down harder on the music industry than on Miley herself.

Check out Miley's screen grab of O'Connor Tweets below and decide:

Whose side are you on in this feud?

The best part of this response? It randomly brings Amanda Bynes into the feud - and you just KNOW that crazy young star won't sit idly by and let Miley compare her to Sinead O'Connor!

We look forward to Amanda's response in 3... 2... 1...

UPDATE: O'Connor has responded and gone off on Miley for actually making fun of someone's mental illness.

Miley Tweet screen grab

I have no idea what to say to this behaviour of Miss Cyrus'. If the VMA Performance and the way she tends to take her clothes off these days is shameful, this is outright stupidity of someone who has forgotten herself. Mocking people with mental illnesses is not an okay thing, and maybe she's a celebrity and because of that, people criticise her with an even larger magnifying glass... I am very disappointed in someone who used to be a good model for teenagers and aspiring young girls.
I am a teenager myself, and while I barely watched Hannah Montana, I do know that a lot of girls watched it and fell in love with the idea of being a superstar.
But by now, with the VMA, the wayward acting, explicit videos and stupid comments, it's no wonder that parents would someday forbid their daughters to become superstars, because of her example.
In the case of mental illnesses, it has been shown that some people that live normally still have a very mild form of a mental disorder.
THIS IS A LETTER FOR YOU, SUBJECT OF DISCUSSION: Nobody is perfect, Miley Cyrus. Nobody. You are getting almost naked in public, therefore you have no reason to blame others for your indiscretion. Like you said about the VMA performance 'Britney's done it, Madonna's done it...' Do you have to do it? Are you suddenly so shallow that you would give anything to 'make history'? That isn't making history, that is selling your body. Knowingly or unknowingly, you've done it, for sure. For your sake, I hope this gets to you. Somehow, which might be really hard to do, because I'm not on Twitter, or Facebook...
I find it appalling that I am more mature that someone 5 years older than me.
Foolish girl, the mental illness mockery was not a jab at just one person. It wasn't a jab just at the people in mental hospitals.
...Do you know how many people living 'normally' suffer from anxiety? Do you even know what a mental illness is?
I tell you, Miley Cyrus, you are telling people that they are sick, YOU are the one that's sick for failing people who thought you better than this, even most of your fans.
As for Sinead, she's gone through so many things and has learnt so many lessons. What an older, more experienced person sees while sitting down, a child could not see it even if he/she climbed Mount Everest. That is more or less a proverb I know. I'm not saying that Sinead is innocent - in fact, she's quite far from it - but why not take people's word for it and stop this shameful behaviour? There is a difference between being carefree and careless. Learn it.
For some reason, though I am a 15 year old girl, I do wish I grew up in another generation where women's bodies weren't prostituted on pictures and sex tapes, and sex isn't talked about so lightly.
As such, and the standard wasn't as low as it is today.
As I said before, I hope this letter does get to you, Miss Cyrus. I really do.
Be careful. For your sake, one day, I hope you would be able to explain yourself to your future children someday.

I think Miley got WAY out of line. Aside the fact that Sinead was giving advice and constructive criticism, mental illness is NEVER something to make fun of. She should defenitely apologize to, not only them, but anyone who could feel offended.

Sinead obviously cares for her, but you can't tell kids anything, they already know everything.

"the crazy young star", how are you any better than Wily Miley?

TEAM SINEAD tees, anyone?

Miley Cyrus was totally and utterly immature about the letter written to her by Sinead; Sinead was never ever disrespectful at any point but gracious about the "talent" Miley has. She was only trying to explain what really goes on behind the scenes of the entertainment buisness and if Miley didnt agree she could have responded respectfully like a mature adult would have instead she did what a teenage girl would do on any social website which was start un needed drama. by the way I think people should read the entirety of the first letter Sinead wrote not the snippets that the media is showing. also Sinead only said this to Miley because she was asked to and out of knowlege and respect she wrote a raw but still kind hearted letter to Miley. but I guess Miley cant figure out the truth of her own antics and cries for attention and fame. I do predict Miley will be the next one to have a public and humiliating downfall. excuse some of my spelling i am in a hurry.

All of them are fucking mentally illed!!

There will be no Amanda response. She's in treatment trying to get better. Yeah if she was out in her old condition she'd be tweeting up a storm. But she has a serious mental illness. What's Miley's excuse? Oh, she's just a drugged up b***h. Not much of an excuse, but yeah, I understand, these scuzzbags like her can't help but continue to be scuzzy every day.

I have to say, as someone who has a history of bipolar, anxiety disorder, OCD and more, this is just NOT OK! Some ad was just trying to help Miley, but she just isn't open enough to see that. There is no doubt in my mind that that is crossing the line into territories Miley ain't wanna be in.
