The X Factor Debut Ratings: Terrible!

Simon Cowell has made his expectations for The X Factor very clear: he expects the show to be number-one, totaling more viewers than his former juggernaut, American Idol.

Therefore, the judge/producer must be very disappointed today. Last night's two-hour premiere of this British import was only watched by 12.6 million households, nearly half the number that tune in for Idol each week and not even enough to help The X Factor win its Wednesday night battle.

The competition was beat out by back-to-back episodes of Modern Family (14.3 million) and later in the night by Criminal Minds (14.1 million). The series premiere of Revenge (11.4 million) wasn't even far behind The X Factor's tally.

    I was looking forward to seeing X-Factor..especially the reunion of Simon and Paula..I was so disappointed in the no talent show, that I turned it off after ten minutes

    We tried to watch it, but it was TERRIBLE !! It was like a really bad American Idol, and the music is way to urban for mainstream America. It is a miserable flop. :( We like Simon amd really wished he had it right.

    I don't care what the ratings say....The X Factor has American Idol beat by a long shot. This show actually showcases REAL talent. Many people probably didn't watch it because they have such a bad taste for AI and thought The X Factor would be somewhat the same. Once they watch the show, they will realize it's not and become addicted (I'm sure of it). I enjoyed every moment of it. Thank God for DVR - I recorded Criminal Minds.
