Landon Donovan, Bianca Kajlich File For Divorce

Separated from his actress wife Bianca Kajlich for more than a year, U.S. soccer star Landon Donovan has filed for divorce to end the union.

The World Cup hero filed the papers Tuesday.

"We remain the closest of friends and will always be important parts of each other's lives," the pair said Tuesday in a joint statement.

Landon Donovan wed Bianca Kajlich on New Year's Eve 2006.

The couple separated in October 2009, but numerous reports surfaced they were possibly reconciling after the World Cup this summer.

Fays later, Donovan faced rumors that he had fathered a love child with an unidentified British woman, but that turned out to be false.

He said Kajlich was aware of the rumor and it would not hurt his attempt to reconcile with her. Then they attended the ESPYs in July.

It was not to be, however. Citing irreconcilable differences, Donovan is seeking spousal support, as well as legal fees from his wife.
