The debate over a recently-passed North Carolina law that prohibits trans individuals from using public restrooms that correspond with their gender has ignited a national firestorm of controversy.

Former MLB star and ESPN commentator Curt Schilling was recently fired by the network for expressing his support of the law via a transphobic meme.

Earlier this month, rock legend Bruce Springsteen canceled a concert in Greensboro, NC to express his opposition to the legislation.

And, of course, current presidential candidates from both parties have sounded off on the issue, and they’ve all taken exactly the stance you would expect – with one notable exception.

It seems that when Donald Trump isn’t confusing 9-11 with 7-Eleven, he’s actually…taking a pretty progressive attitude toward trans issues?!

During an appearance on Today this morning, Trump was asked by Matt Lauer if Caitlyn Jenner would be permitted to use the ladies room in Trump Tower.

Trump not only replied that Caitlyn would be allowed to use whatever restroom she chooses, he took things a step further, condemning what he deems "discriminatory" actions against trans people.

"There’s a big move to create new bathrooms," Trump continued. "Problem with that…I think that would be discriminatory in a certain way…It would be unbelievably expensive for businesses and for the country. Leave it the way it is."

“North Carolina did something that was very strong. And they’re paying a big price.”

Is this the "presidential" Trump that the Donald has been promising for so long?

If he’s able to keep this act up, Hillary may need to hold off on picking out new china for the White House.
