Burger King has extended a temporary olive branch to its arch rival.
Although no olives of any kind are involved.
In full-page ads that ran in The New York Times and The Chicago Tribune, along with the commercial featured here, the fast food company reaches out to McDonald’s and asks if it wants to collaborate on an item.
The McWhopper would be available on September 21, the International Day of Peace, and it would be offered in a special pop-up store in Atlanta that would constructed in a parking lot between a McDonald’s and a Burger King for that one day only.
“Dear Burger King,” McDonald’s has responded to this ad on Facebook, adding:
“Inspiration for a good cause… great idea. We love the intention but think our two brands could do something bigger to make a difference. We commit to raise awareness worldwide, perhaps you’ll join us in a meaningful global effort?”
