Laura Prepon rose to fame as Donna Pinciotti on That '70s Show. She now portrays Alex Vause on Orange Is the New Black, but her past also includes Southlander, Slackers and Lightning Bug.
Kate Mulgrew plays a Russian culinary guru nicknamed "Red," but the veteran actress starred for a decade in the 1970s as Mary Ryan on Ryan's Hope.
Dascha Polanco plays Dayanara "Daya" Diaz on the Netflix hit. The actress actually began her career in healthcare, picking up her first acting credits in her late 20s on episodes of Unforgettable and NYC 22.
Nick Sandow often irritates us prison warden Joe Caputo. The actor made his acting debut over 20 years on a 1992 episode of Law & Order. In the years since then, hehas also appeared in One Night Stand, No Looking Back, Return to Paradise, Living Out Loud, Third Watch and Swimfan.
Probably the biggest breakout star of the show, she picked up the Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2015 for her role as Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren. Prior to landing this character, she mostly starred in Broadway, in productions such as Coram Boy and Godspell.
DeLaria first appeared on television way back in 1994, booking a bit role on Matlock. She went on to appear in The First Wives Club and Edge of Seventeen, along with episodes of Saved by the Bell: The New Class, Friends, Will & Grace and One Life to Live.
Michael Harney plays Litchfield corrections officer Sam Healy. He debuted as an actor in a 1992 episode of Law & Order and went on to earn credits for Turbulence, NYPD Blue, Deadwood, Persons Unknown and Weeds.
The actress enjoyed a successful 10-year run on the small screen and big screen before joining this series. She appeared in the 1990s on episode of All That, The Practice, and Get Real... and went on to earn credits for Crazy/Beautiful, Crossroads, 8 Mile, Hustle & Flow and Sons of Anarchy.
Laverne Cox garnered an Emmy nomination in 2014 for her role of Sophia Burset. She has since becoming a transgender icon. Prior to landing this gig, she competed on the first season of the VH1 reality show I Want to Work for Diddy in 2008, finishing in eighth place.
It's the woman Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson! The actress, who earned a Tony nomination in 2016 for her part in The Color Purple, first appeared on television in 2012.
Prior to coming on board as Glorida, Leyva made her on-screen debut on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, appearing in a single 1999 installment. She went on to act in Taina, Third Watch, Maria Full of Grace, The Sopranos, Law & Order, Blue Bloods, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
Yael Stone plays Lorna Morello on OITNB. Stone earned her initial acting credit in 1999 for Me Myself I and went on to appear in All Saints and Spirited.
Samira Wiley plays one of our favorites, Poussey Washington. Prior debuting in the role in 2013, she earned made appearances in The Sitter and Being Flynn, along with episodes of Unforgettable and Person of Interest.
As you can see above, Lyonne was a child actress, earning her frst credits in the 1980s by appearing in Pee-wee's Playhouse as Opal. For real!
