Last week was, as always, another dizzying frenzy of gossip and media-related news. And this time, one incident in particular overshadowed all the rest: the untimely death of Anna Nicole Smith.

Some of you expressed your sympathy and deep regrets over Anna Nicole’s death, while others viewed it as an inevitable conclusion given the lifestyle that she chose. Regardless, due to the wide spectrum of reactions, we’ve decided to devote this week’s Hot Topic to your thoughts, reflections and impassioned musings on this issue.

Reactions to Anna Nicole Smith:

• “Let the Anna jokes roll in. her life was a joke anyways.”

• “Is having respect for the dead out of fashion? crass and vulgar sites (tmz, perez hilton, the superficial) attract crass and vulgar people.”

• “I wish people weren???t so mean. Although I did not really care for Anna Nicole or her antics, I had/have complete compassion and empathy for any fellow human that is that far from their spirit in life.”

• “Whether you liked Anna is irrelevant – a tragedy has occurred. Congratulations for demonstrating that there is still some dignity and respect for the RECENTLY deceased (it hasn’t even been 24 hours as I write this) in the media!”

• “I am sorry, but while I am repulsed at the thought of laughing at someone who died tragically young, I am equally repulsed at the holier- than- thou- tone that some blogs and news outlets are taking…This was a person who used herself, and allowed others to use her in order to maintain a steady presence in any media outlet that would take her. Where was everyone when she was walking around stoned out her mind and talking s**t and popping out of her dress? Why didn’t anyone caring writer or journalist or blogger say “You know what? This woman is troubled and she is sick and it is cruel of us to make fun of her?”

• “She will be missed. I hope she has found the peace she so deserves.”

• “What the hell is a proper media burial? she chose the life she had….she screwed up. she wasted her life.why should we sugar coat this? you oughta teach this to the kids and say “if this is the life you choose, you will die the same way.” PERIOD.”

• “Rest in peace, Anna.”

I like Anna Nicole Smith! I always have. She made me laugh with her unusual behavior in public and on her show.

She has made bad choices in her life but who hasn’t! I’m will not condemn her for that!

I wish I didn’t have teeth like Mr. Ed. Anna has awesome teeth. Here teeth are hella-cool. I wish I had her teeth…and breasts. And legs. And face. And everything else.

Poor Anna Nicole. Please put her body to rest….somewhere. I feel for all concerned; and hopefully the DNA test will be done and Larry or Howard will find out who the biological father will be. Then let the real parent get to know his daughter. This has all been drawn out way too long; and it is very sad for Anna Nicole to have lost Danny; even with a new baby daughter. I think a lot of Anna died when Danny died. He was her life and love. God bless her……Soon she and Danny will be together……and the pain will be gone…..
She was a beautiful woman……just made lousy choices.
God bless her and her daughter DanniellynnHope…..
