Anna Chlumsky of ‘My Girl’ fame gave birth to a daughter on July 11. She and husband Shaun So named their first born Penelope Joan So.

The former child actress told PEOPLE, “She’s a really good mix between my husband and me. You prepare for so long, and all of a sudden the baby’s here … It’s seriously the best thing. Holding her is fantastic. It’s one of the more enjoyable things. It doesn’t get boring at all. I could hold her all day.”

She became engaged to So, an Army Reserve member whose family is Chinese in the fall of 2007. She described their March 2008 nuptials as “a fusion of two cultural traditions.”

Chlumsky, 32, was nominated Thursday for a Primetime Emmy in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for ‘Veep.’ Her HBO sitcom co-stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Tony Hale were also nominated.

A third season was announced in May. The cast have been given the green light to film 10 episodes that will air in 2014.
