Paris Hilton was escorted out of a World Cup quarterfinal match between Brazil and the Netherlands on Friday and temporarily detained by Port Elizabeth police, who were under the impression she had been smoking pot.
Authorities removed her from Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium long enough to question her about an allegation that she had been seen smoking marijuana in the stands. With her cooperation, it was quickly determined that it was someone else in her party. Police apologized and allowed her to rejoin her group in the stadium.
Paris jumped on her Twitter page to shoot down the arrest rumors: “Hey guys, there’s a lot of crazy rumors going around. Just wanted you all to know the truth. Everything is completely fine. I was not charged or arrested, cause I didn’t do anything. I was assisting the police with the investigation and answering their questions. Everyone was super nice and friendly to me. I love South Africa! Such an amazing place, especially during the World Cup! Hope that clears everything up. Love you guys, thanks for your concern. xoxo P.”
Paris traveled to South Africa aboard a private luxury jet. More ‘twitpics’ from the World Cup travels of Paris below:
