Nick Lachey bashed Joe Simpson a few days ago during a segment of ‘Watch What Happens Live’ with Andy Cohen.
He joked, “The best thing about not having Joe Simpson anymore as a father-in-law is I don’t have to play grab-ass under the table on Easter Sunday.”
Lachey has been making the rounds to promote a new 98 Degrees album. He may have had second thoughts about his Papa Joe dig because he later acknowledged, “It may not be funny tomorrow, but it is tonight.”
In October 2012 male escort Bryce Chandler, 21, came forward with a claim that Joe Simpson hired him regularly for sex and provided him with lavish gifts.
Tina Simpson promptly filed for divorce, thus ending her 34 year union. Their daughters Ashlee Simpson and Jessica Simpson remained silent after the news broke.
Regarding Lachey’s recent attempt at humor–his ex-wife wasn’t amused. Her pal reports, “Jessica was shocked and horrified that Nick said what he said. She’s upset. Nick might have thought it was funny and he got a cheap laugh, but to Jessica, it wasn’t — at all.”
Nick and Jess divorced eight years ago. He and his current wife Vanessa Minnillo have an infant son Camden.
