Free to wed in New York …

Neil Patrick Harris and his partner David Burtka have been riding a roller coaster of emotions over the past few days. The How I Met Your Mother celeb ‘tweeted’ a series of revealing comments while they anxiously waited to see if New York would legalize same-sex marital unions.

The vote is in and New York is officially the sixth and largest state in the U.S. to allow gay marriages. Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the bill into law just before midnight Friday.

States already granting marriage licenses to same-sex couples: Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, plus Washington D.C. and the Coquille Indian Tribe in Oregon.

Harris is now free to wed his long time partner. He began ‘tweeting’ about the possibility early yesterday:

The most telling of the Twitter missives was the one that declared that the parents of twins would move forward to make their union legal:

The actor appeared on Letterman two weeks ago, and shared some humor photos of his children dressed in various costumes. Son Gideon and daughter Harper were born via a surrogate mother eight months ago.
