Malibu Fire 10/21/2007
A fire that completely destroyed Malibu landmark Hodge Castle, also known as Malibu Castle, continues to rage through Malibu and has crossed over to the beach area.
Aided by the strong Santa Ana winds, the fire has already destroyed more than 1000 acres.
The homes of Olivia Newton-John and “Titanic” director James Cameron have been evacuated according to reports.
Other celebrities who’s homes are in danger include Jennifer Aniston, Sting, Bill Murray, Tatum O’Neal, David Arquette and Courteney Cox, David Geffen, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, as well as a number of others.
Although Britney Spears’ lives in Malibu, her home is not believed to be in immediate danger.
Malibu Castle, owned by socialite Lilly Lawrence, housed a priceless memorabilia collection including some rare Elvis Presley items. The home was in the process of being sold for an asking price of $17 million and was in escrow.
