Mad Men season 3 episode 2, set in the Spring of 1963, opens with a film clip of the movie “Bye Bye Birdie,” leaving the guys in the conference room mesmerized, and Pepsi wanting to use it as the basis for their advertising.

More shake ups are in store for Sterling Cooper as financial director Lane Price announces that the agency has been canned (pun intended) by Campbell’s Soup in Great Britain, and then later in the episode says they will have to drop the Madison Square Gardens account he told Draper to go out and get.

Adding insult to injury, Don and a very pregnant Betty endure dinner with Lane and his wife.

The episode titled “Love Among the Ruins” aired Sunday, August 23, but if you missed it, you can watch the full episode in the video below.
