Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn is recovering from a surgical procedure to repair a torn ACL on her right knee.
The injury led the athlete to announce on Jan. 7 that she would not compete at the upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia: “I did everything I possibly could to somehow get strong enough to overcome having no ACL but the reality has sunk in that my knee is just too unstable to compete at this level.”
Vonn provided an update yesterday on Facebook, “Surgery was successful! Resting with loved ones and of course my cuddle buddy Leo. So thankful to have such great people helping me. Will update more later.” See pic here.
Publicist Lewis Kay said: “Lindsey Vonn underwent successful ACL reconstruction surgery yesterday. Dr. Jim Andrews performed the procedure and expects her to make a full recovery in time for next year’s World Championships in Vail, Colorado.”
Regarding Lindsey’s 9-month-old puppy, she told her fans, “This brightened my day. He has a bad knee from being hit by a car when he was a puppy and no one wanted him … but I do!! I encourage anyone looking for an animal to adopt from a shelter! #bumkneebuddies”
When she is not traveling the ski circuit, Vonn resides in Jupiter, Floria with boyfriend Tiger Woods.
