Broadway and television star Kristin Chenoweth revealed a fun fact during a recent guest appearance on The Ellen Show. She has an addiction for collecting quarters.

The 43-year-old actress and singer sat down with DeGeneres to promote her new ABC series GCB, short for Good Christian Belles.

Several Christian organizations have expressed outrage at the show’s irreverent spin on religion. Advertiser Philadelphia Cream Cheese pulled its ads after complaints from customers.

The actress brushed off the critics, “I certainly wouldn’t do anything that would make fun of my own faith. This is just chocolate cake, and it’s actually a love letter to Dallas.”

Back to the subject at hand … her penchant for saving quarters. KC thinks it goes back to her early days in NYC when she was a starving actor who struggled to come up with enough quarters to do her laundry.

She admits, “The minute I get home from shopping I put all the quarters away. I have jars of quarters. I obsess over saving them.”

Ellen tried to rationalize it, “It’s a safe addiction. No one’s getting hurt. You like quarters and that’s fine.”

Then Chenoweth let the other shoe drop, “I also enjoy cleaning them with Purell.”
