Comedian and actor, Jim Belushi is being sued for selling a 2001 Land Rover that turned out to be a lemon. The 78 year old man who bought the vehicle on eBay is claiming that Belushi knowingly sold him a defective automobile.
The saga began when Belushi’s driver, Ted Lewandowski mentioned that his father was looking for a good used car. Belushi referred him to an eBay auction for his own 2001 Land Rover that was said to be in perfect mechanical condition. The driver passed the information along to his father Jan Lewandowski. Both father and son took Belushi at his word because of his status as a Hollywood actor.
The elder Lewandowski paid $11,500 to Belushi and flew to the West Coast to pick up the SUV. He planned to drive it across country but only made it as far as Arizona before the vehicle broke down. He had to have the fuel pump replaced in order to get it back on the road. The vehicles still needs a new water pump, radiator and other repairs totaling $6,000.
Jim Belushi’s Los Angeles attorney, Brian Wolf calls the claim “false and frivolous.” The elder Lewandowski apparently took Belushi to small claims court in February and the judge determined the case was without merit. Wolf asserts that this latest lawsuit amounts to harassment of his client.
