This is my favorite story of the day…because it’s crazy! Jermaine Jackson legally changed his name to Jermaine Jacksun.
Seriously, what? Yesterday an L.A. County Superior Court judge gave the approval for the singer to change the spelling of his famous last name.
Jermaine, 58, filed the request last November, citing “artistic reasons” for the moniker change. Heads up to all future Google searchers, the O is now a U in case you want to see what this dude is up to in the future.
TMZ posted the story and added the funniest line ever, “Jermaine was not present during the hearing … because he’s off in Europe performing with his brothers … the Jacksons.” Brilliant!
Jacksun’s attorney Bret D. Lewis filed the petition and later remarked, “If Prince and P Diddy can do it, why can’t and shouldn’t Jermaine?” That said, we guess that makes him ‘the artist formerly known as Jackson.’
He first dabbled with a name change in 1989 when he unofficially became Mohammad Abdul Aziz after converting to Islam.
The latest change does beg the question–will Jermaine’s seven children follow in their fathers footsteps and change their last name to Jacksun? We’re guessing NOT.
That just about covers it. Carry on and have a great day.
