Dina Lohan entered a plea of not guilty when she faced a judge in a New York courtroom Tuesday in response to speeding and drunken driving charges.

The 50-year-old mother of Lindsay Lohan was released without bail until her next court appearance on Oct. 23. Before she was allowed to leave, Judge Joy Watson suspended her drivers license, citing the severity of the drunken driving charge.

Lohan’s lawyer Mark Heller addressed reporters outside of the courthouse as Lohan, with eyes shrouded behind dark glasses, remained silent. Afterward the trio got into a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce for a trip back to Dina’s Long Island home.

He said, “My client has experienced a tremendously challenging trilogy: substance abuse and domestic violence, financial crisis bordering on bankruptcy, and raising a family in a fatherless home when the father is in prison. In spite of all of these hardships, she has raised, supported and educated four loving children.”

“The court today saw fit to release her without bail and without requiring her to participate on active probation. Dina has never had any personal problems with the law her entire life and she has been a lifelong resident here in Nassau County. I am confident that the District Attorney’s Office and the judicial system will temper justice with mercy.”
