Good thing he is pretty much made of money because Diddy owes his hometown a whole lot of it! New York City has fined the rapper’s company Bad Boy Entertainment $1 million for hanging posters throughout Manhattan without paying for the necessary permits.
The music mogul is but one of thousands of people and companies that collectively owe the city over $1.9 billion for illegally posting promotional materials.
Finance Commissioner David Frankel is adamant about seeking repayment, “We are going to find these people. We’re going to turn them upside down by their ankles and we’re going to shake them until the money comes out of their pockets.”
Oh Diddy! It looks like they mean business — you better pay up! Rapper Doug E. Fresh, Remy Ma‘s defense lawyer, and the plastic surgeon of Mickey Rourke are all reportedly under investigation for the same offense.
As for Diddy, his people state that the bill is a “bureaucratic error” and claim that the fees were paid three years ago by a partner company. Lawyers for NYC are reportedly reviewing the issue.
