Former ‘Partridge Family’ television star David Cassidy was charged in upstate New York early Wednesday morning with felony driving while intoxicated.
The 63-year-old entertainer was pulled over by a member of the Schodack Police Department at a DWI check point, and reportedly registered a .10 blood alcohol after submitting to a breathalyzer. The legal limit in New York is .08.
He was also cited for failing to dim his lights when he approached the police cruiser shortly after midnight.
The 70’s icon and his fiancee, who are summering in the area, had just come from an evening visit with friends when they were detained.
Cassidy was arraigned in the Town of Schodack Court before Justice Bruce Wagner and was later remanded to the Schodack County Jail because he was an out of state resident. He has since posted $2,500 bail.
Police Chief Bernhard Peter told the media, “David Cassidy was cooperative. He was a total gentleman and didn’t give us a problem whatsoever.”
Police opted to charge Cassidy with a felony because this is his second drunk driving charge in the past three years. The actor was last arrested in Florida in 2010 after blowing a .14.
His 26-year-old daughter is actress Katie Cassidy, who appears on the CW superhero television series ‘Arrow’ and has three big screen films slated for release next year.
