England’s David Beckham will miss the World Cup due to an Achilles tendon injury he suffered playing for AC Milan on Sunday.
Beckham was on loan to Milan from the Los Angeles Galaxy when he went down towards the end of game.
The 34-year-old midfielder will undergo surgery in Finland on Monday for the torn Achilles tendon.
Although no official announcement has been made ruling Beckham out of the World Cup, it is merely a formality, according to a source who wishes to remain anonymous.
