Chris Brown was on his way to a charity event in Los Angeles Saturday when his black Porsche crashed into a wall, a situation the Grammy nominee is blaming on the paparazzi.

Brown’s rep released a statement: “The paparazzi cut him off and jumped out, with cameras, and aggressively approached his vehicle. In an effort to remove himself from the situation, he began to back down an alley, at which point he was cut off by two additional vehicles. Chris’ vehicle was totaled due to this aggressive pursuit by the paparazzi. He is okay.”

The Beverly Hills PD confirmed that Brown was involved in “a solo, non-injury traffic collision” in which he “collided with a wall. Brown’s Black Porsche was towed from the scene at his request.”

Chris Doherty, owner of photo agency INF, disputes Brown’s allegation. He claims his photographers “had nothing to do with the Chris Brown crash” and went on to say that it’s simply “convenient for him to blame us.”

Brown is slated to appear at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards at Staples Center Sunday night, having been nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album for ‘Fortune.’

His on-again girlfriend, Rihanna, will perform solo and with Bruno Mars. She is nominated in three award categories: Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Short Form Music Video and Best Rap Collaboration with Jay-Z for her song ‘Talk That Talk.’
