There’s a new lawyer in town, who is representing the interests of Britney Spears. John Eardley, 26, of New York City has reportedly filed papers questioning the legality of Jamie Spears conservatorship of his daughter. Daily Mail is claiming that the current conservatorship order is void and invalid based on a legal loophole.
Jamie Spears has been given express control of his daughter’s money, her security and has been controlling her comings and goings. She has not been allowed to drive her car, and visits from friends have been virtually nonexistent. All has been quiet on the Britney front, which would seem to indicate that the current situation is just what the troubled pop star needed.
Access Hollywood is quoting Eardley as saying, “Spears has not received the benefit of a single hearing before the court; yet she has been stripped of her right to access counsel of her choosing and to meet with her counsel in a private meeting,” the filing read. Eardley is asking the United States District Court to hear the case.
The looming question is: who secured the services of this new attorney on behalf of Britney Spears. The current court order takes that option away from the singer. So who is behind this? Sam Lutfi might still be weaseling behind the scenes. He appears to have the most to lose if the court keeps favoring Jamie Spears. His current status as his daughter’s conservator is supposed to be in effect until March 10, 2008 when the court commissioner will hold the next hearing on the matter.
Spokesperson for Eardley is Michael Sands. He has had long ties to Sam Lutfi. Coincidence? According to Sands, Eardley came to him independently. Right.
