Country crooner Billy Ray Cyrus has signed on to appear in the long-running Broadway revival of ‘Chicago.’

The ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ singer will take on the role of suave, ethically challenged attorney Billy Flynn in a run that will span Nov. 5 through Dec. 23, 2012 at the famed Ambassador Theatre on West 49th Street in New York City.

Cyrus, 50, had this to say: “I love acting, and I’m always up for learning new things. I get a little nervous thinking about it. Maybe a lot nervous.”

He has timed the release of his new album ‘Change My Mind’ for October, right before he makes his Broadway debut. Billy Ray reports, “It’s got some killer Southern rock along with some blues and bluegrass accents.”

On the subject of his newly-engaged 19-year-old daughter Miley Cyrus, he reports, “No date has been set. But I’m happy to see Miley happy. She’s making new music and just really enjoying life. Miley and I have a mantra, something my father told me: ‘If you’re not having fun, it ain’t working.’ And we’re having fun.”
