Audra McDonald hit Twitter early this morning to announce that she is a married woman, having wed Broadway actor Will Swenson on Saturday.

The former ‘Private Practice’ star and four-time Tony Award winning actress announced their engagement in January 2012.

In the wee hours of Sunday morning she tweeted, “Well that was just the best day ever. #SadieSadiemarriedlady .”

McDonald recently wrapped her starring role in Porgy and Bess on Broadway. She accepted a Tony Award in June for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Bess.

Swenson is a film director and actor best known for his work in musical theater. Born in Utah and raised Mormon, he attended Brigham Young University and later served as a Mormon missionary in Ecuador. Will went on to direct and act in a number of films described as Mormon cinema. A recent bio suggests that he is no longer a practicing Mormon.

This is the second marriage for the couple. She has a daughter, Zoe, and he has two sons, Bridger and Sawyer.
