Two will go home tonight …

The hit Fox reality show American Idol will see the elimination of two of its remaining Top 11 contestants during Thursday night’s broadcast, March 31, 2011.

Last night the eleven remaining singers performed Elton John songs: Scotty McCreery was thrilled to discover Country Comfort, Naima Adedapo put a reggae spin on I’m Still Standing, Paul McDonald sang Rocket Man, lovely Pia Toscano performed yet another ballad, Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.

Stefano Langone performed Tiny Dancer, Lauren Alaina put a bit of a country spin on Candle in the Wind, actually sounding very much like Carrie Underwood.

James Durbin, who suffers from Tourette’s syndrome, sang Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting, Thia Megia, 16, sang Daniel as an homage to her brother, Casey Abrams got a much needed haircut and beard trim and performed Your Song, and Jacob Lusk had a go at Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word.

Haley Reinhart, lounged on a piano while singing Bennie and the Jets. Steven, Jennifer and Randy were clearly smitten with her performance.

The judges critiques certainly didn’t provide much insight as to who really shined and who might be getting the boot tonight. Back when Simon Cowell was providing his brutally honest and usually spot-on assessments, voters had a road map for their decision making.

Which two will get the boot tonight? We haven’t a clue.
