In addition to being linked to Reese Witherspoon‘s ex-husband, actor Ryan Phillippe as “the other woman” (a label Phillippe claims she doesn’t deserve), Abbie Cornish was also recently linked to late actor Heath Ledger, who died from an accidental drug overdose.

Cornish and Ledger, both from Australia, starred in the 2006 Australian film “Candy,” in which Ledger ironically plays a self-destructive heroin addict. Cornish, who plays his love interest, won the Australian Film Institute Best Lead Actress Award for the role.

At one point it was rumored that Cornish would be the next Bond Girl, but of course we now know that coveted role went to Ukrainian actress Olga Kurylenko.

Although Cornish and Phillippe spend a lot of time together, (the two co-starred in the upcoming film “Stop-Loss“) Ryan says, “She and I are close friends, and as far as if there is any future, that is not where we are at now.”

“As far as I’m concerned, it’s a friendship, and we are getting to know each other in a really difficult situation.”

“I had difficulties in my relationship, and in my marriage, long before I ever met her,” Phillippe says, neither admitting nor denying the two had an affair.
