Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi recently purchased what is arguably the “best house in Los Angeles” — the recently revamped Brody house in Holmby Hills, CA.
The multi-winged A. Quincy Jones designed house, which sits next door to the Playboy Mansion, was commissioned in 1949 by philanthropists and art collectors Sidney and Frances Brody. With an interior designed by Billy Haines and the 2.3 acre grounds by landscape arhitect Garrett Eckbo, Brody House is widely considered one of the best estates in Los Angeles.
The 13,511 square foot, 6 bedroom, 9.5 bathroom home, includes a pool and pool house, gym, spa and tennis court. The previous owner, whose identity has not been disclosed, had the home updated by designer Stephen Stone.
Ellen and Portia, known for their high-end house flipping, also sold their Beverly Hills home at the time of the purchase. They still own a John Sladino-designed villa in Montecito, CA, which they purchased in May, 2013, for $26.5 million.
