While in Boston for a weekend concert, Kanye West visited Cambridge to briefly lecture on the subject of fashion design to a packed hall filled with Harvard graduate students.
His fiancee posted a photo on Instagram from her vantage point in a stairwell. The reality star captioned is pic, “My baby speaking at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.”
The rapper told the crowd, “I really do believe the world can be saved through design.”
His wealth of knowledge stems from the creative design company DONDA that he established in 2012. The endeavor was named for his late mother, Donda West. She died at age 58 in 2007 while recovering at home following liposuction and breast reduction surgery.
Kanye previously stated on Twitter that his company “will galvanize amazing thinkers and put them in a creative space to bounce their dreams and ideas.”
As a token of his appreciation for being allowed to speak at the prestigious Ivy League school, West gave 300 members of the Harvard School of Design free tickets to Sunday night’s show on a first come, first serve basis several hours before the show.
Kanye’s YEEZUS tour has been plagued by a number of stops and starts, with ticket holders in Vancouver, Denver, Columbus, Montreal, Minneapolis and St. Louis out of luck.
Excuses have included missing trucks, theft of equipment, truck accidents and a broken jumbo screen. During his down time he staged an engagement extravaganza in San Diego.
We’ve included a short clip of Kanye at Harvard below:
