Saturday Night Live alum Molly Shannon has hooked up with the Fox network to produce and star in a single-camera sitcom that is slated to air in 2014.
The comedy will have Shannon cast as Fiona, a career driven woman whose lifestyle clashes with her stay-at-home pregnant daughter.
Bruce McCulloch will pen the pilot script. He previously directed the comedic actress in the 1999 film ‘Superstar.’
Shannon starred in the short-lived NBC sitcom ‘Kath & Kim’ in 2008, and will appear this season in a story arc on Fox series ‘Raising Hope.’ Season 4 premieres Nov. 15.
Molly was nominated in 2013 for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of Eileen Foliente on the HBO comedy-drama ‘Enlightened.’
She recently wrapped filming the zombie comedy ‘Life After Beth,’ co-starring Anna Kendrick, Aubrey Plaza, Cheryl Hines, Paul Reiser and John C. Reilly. The movie hits the big screen on Jan. 31, 2014.
Her former ensemble SNL cast mate Kristen Wiig is high on her old pal, “The amazing Molly Shannon, she’s just completely fearless.”
Shannon wed artist Fritz Chestnut in 2004. They have two children: daughter Stella, 10, and son Nolan, 8.
