Miley Cyrus sat down with Matt Lauer for a candid interview this morning on TODAY. They engaged in an animated discussion about her ‘Saturday Night Live’ gig and her red hot career.

She entertained the Rockefeller Plaza crowd in Manhattan with her chart-topping singles ‘We Can’t Stop’ and ‘Wrecking Ball’ and an old fan fav, ‘Party in the USA.”

The former Disney celeb provided an interesting look at her transition from child star to adult performer, stating emphatically that it hasn’t been hard to reinvent herself. She told Lauer, “It’s only hard if you’re trying to be something you’re not. Being who you are is really easy, if you’re really true to that.”

Referencing her VMA performance, she said, “I don’t ever really plan to offend people, but sometimes that happens because I think people are not open to what they don’t understand. My fans are young and they totally get what I’m trying to do.”

The TODAY host wondered if her sexually provocative performances are just a passing phase that will go away. She smiled knowingly and responded, “I hear when you turn 40 things start to get a little less sexual.” That would be two decades from now.

Matt hung his head and revealed he is 55. Miley joked, “Oh, well then, you’re really probably not sexual.”

Regarding do-overs, MC wasn’t willing to offer up mistakes, “I can’t change anything, can’t go back. I just live my life the way it is, and I don’t regret anything.”

She also heaped praise on Sinead O’Connor despite the fact that the controversial musician blasted her over the weekend with two open letters and a legal threat. Miley claims, “I think she’s an incredible artist, I think she’s an awesome song writer. I don’t know how someone can start a fight with somebody who said, ‘Hey, I really respect you and I really love what you did.'”
