A federal judge in Georgia has thrown out the race discrimination lawsuit against Paula Deen after determining that Lisa Jackson, a white woman, has no standing to sue and at best was an “accidental victim.”
U.S. District Court Judge William T. Moore Jr. ruled Monday against Jackson, but will allow her to continue her sexual harassment claim against Deen’s brother and business partner Bubba Hiers.
Ironically, the former Food Network celebrity chef saw her empire implode after her court deposition revealed that she had used the N-word years earlier.
Will this strange turn of events soften the hearts of the long list of brands who swiftly canceled their endorsement deals with Paula? Perhaps.
On the flip side, the ruling could unleash a slew of lawsuits from black employees determined to press the point in court.
