In the wake of the George Zimmerman not guilty verdict returned by a jury in the Trayvon Martin murder trial, Twitter has exploded with reactions from people all over the country.

Six women had been sequestered since June 24, and after hearing three weeks of testimony, deliberated for 16 hours over two days before returning an acquittal verdict that is now reverberating on social media.

The prosecution argued that Zimmerman targeted the 17-year-old because he viewed Trayvon Martin as a criminal. The accused claimed he shot Martin in self-defense, after the youth attacked him.

John Legend: “My heart hurts.”

Ellen Page: “If u really believe racism isn’t a massive problem, that the oppression of minorities is not a horrific and systemic issue U R in denial.”
