Elisabeth Hasselbeck‘s much anticipated last day on ABC’s morning talk show ‘The View’ is today, July 10. The co-host decided to wait until her exit day to make the big announcement but her new employer beat her to the punch.

Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes confirmed that Hasselbeck will replace Gretchen Carlson, “Elisabeth’s warm and engaging personality made her a star on The View. She has proven to be an excellent conversationalist and I am certain she will make a great addition to our already successful morning franchise.”

Hasselback followed with this statement: “I have been a longtime fan of Fox & Friends and am excited to be joining their team in September as it is an honor to call the Fox News Channel my new television home.”

Her former boss Barbara Walters acknowledged, “We have had 10 wonderful years with Elisabeth, and she will now be swimming in new waters. We will miss her and wish her everything good.”

ABC said Hasselbeck brought “her passion and strong beliefs to The View” and “stood behind her political views even if they were not the most popular opinions at the table.”

Reports indicate that Jenny McCarthy and Brooke Shields have been in talks with the network to step in for Hasselbeck and Joy Behar, who will leave in August when her contract ends.

Elisabeth wed former NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck in 2002. They have three children, Grace,Taylor and Isaiah.
