Two weeks after winning season sixteen of ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ mirror ball trophy winner Kellie Pickler was honored on the stage of The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
The country singer opened last night’s show and was given a backstage party afterward that included cupcakes with #10 decorations, a portrait, keys to the city and a special mirror ball cake.
She and her pro partner Derek Hough were gratified to be a part of a special evening. Pickler acknowledged, “We never got to really celebrate because we jumped on a plane that night to fly to New York for media. It was kind of a blur and it’s just beginning to hit me.”
This is the fourth time that Hough danced a celebrity partner to victory … but he claims this time was different. “People come onto the show for all kinds of reasons, but she came on because she really wanted to learn. She was totally open to trying anything and whatever happened, happened.”
One thing surprised Kellie about the experience. Her shoe size expanded by several sizes during the competition. She claims, “My shoe size has always been 6-1/2. But by the final week my feet were so swollen, I was a size 8! They’re back to normal now, but I was pretty nervous because I have a lot of size 6-1/2 shoes.”
