‘The Bling Ring’ actresses pose at Cannes Film Festival…
A reported $1 million worth of Chopard jewels were stolen from the Novotel Hotel during the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.
The expensive bling was to be loaned to celebrities for their red carpet appearances over the course of the high profile event in the French Riviera that runs from May 15 to May 26, 2013.
According to reports, the cache of jewelry went missing Friday from the room safe of a Swiss jeweler’s employee.
Coincidentally, or not, the theft occurred on the same day that the Hollywood film ‘The Bling Ring’ premiered. The crime drama, based on true events, features a group of fame-obsessed teenagers who rob celebrity homes.
The real-life thieves broke into the homes of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Megan Fox, Rachel Bilson, Audrina Patridge and Orlando Bloom before they were arrested.
‘The Bling Ring’ is scheduled to be released in U.S. theaters on June 14, 2013. Co-stars include Emma Watson, Katie Chang, Taissa Farmiga and Claire Julien.
